Welcome to the capital of taste. If you're planning your vacation, you'll already know that Sicily is synonymous with fine dining, but Castellammare del Golfo offers a culinary experience that exceeds expectations. In this guide, we'll reveal our favorite spots, the ones we at Sicily Home Solutions always recommend to our guests for an authentic experience, away from the usual tourist traps.

Castellammare del Golfo

Seafood restaurants: the excellence of local catches

Eating fish in Castellammare del Golfo is a ritual. The Marina area is the heart of the restaurant scene, where boats unload every morning what you'll find on your plates that evening.

  • La Tonnara Restaurant: Located right on the harbor, it's an institution. Its strength lies in the simplicity of the freshest ingredients combined with a breathtaking view. Perfect for a romantic dinner watching the boats returning.

  • Rosmarina Restaurant: If you're looking for a touch of elegance and innovation, this is the place. The cuisine here is a constant exploration of Sicilian tradition and modern techniques, ideal for those who want to be amazed by refined flavors in a location meticulously maintained down to the smallest details.

Flavors of the Earth: Where Meat Takes Center Stage

Although the sea dominates the horizon, Sicilian tradition has its roots in the hills of Trapani's hinterland. If you're looking for a break from seafood, there's a place that never disappoints.

  • I Sapori Restaurant: This restaurant is the go-to place for meat lovers in Castellammare del Golfo. Fine cuts, slow cooking, and grilled meats are the main focus. Here, you can savor the bold flavors of our region, paired with excellent local wines, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Gourmet Pizza in the heart of the historic center

Pizza has also found a new dimension in Castellammare del Golfo, combining Italian tradition with the quality of our local products.

  • La Duchessa: Located among the charming streets of the historic center, this pizzeria is renowned for its research into dough and use of DOP ingredients. This isn't your average pizza: it's a journey through the flavors of Sicily, perfect for a casual yet high-quality evening.

Street Food: Scopello's Pane Cunzato and Cassatelle (where to eat in Castellammare del Golfo)

You can't say you've experienced Castellammare del Golfo without trying the street food that has made us famous throughout the province of Trapani.

  • Panificio Stabile e Anselmo (Scopello): Located in the heart of Scopello, this bakery makes what many consider the best pane cunzato in the province. Warm, freshly baked bread, extra virgin olive oil, tomato, anchovies, and primosale cheese.

  • Bar La Sorgente (Castellammare del Mar): To finish on a high note, you have to try the cassatella . But not just any cassatella: the one from La Sorgente. A fried ravioli filled with the freshest sheep's milk ricotta. The secret? Eat it piping hot.

FAQ: Expert Advice (2026)

Tip: If the Sirocco (a warm southerly wind) blows, the sea at Playa Beach becomes as flat and crystalline as a swimming pool, while the Zingaro can be rough. If the Tramontana (northerly wind) blows, it's best to seek refuge in the Reserve's more sheltered coves or enjoy the cool breeze in town.

2. The magic time for the Gypsy

Everyone says to go to the Zingaro Reserve, but few say when .

  • Tip: If you want to enjoy Cala Tonnarella dell'Uzzo without the crowds, be at the entrance (San Vito or Scopello side) by 7:30 a.m. After 10:30 a.m., the magic fades with the arrival of the tourist boats.

3. Stress-free parking

The number one problem in Castellammare del Golfo in the summer is parking.

  • Advice: Don't drive to Cala Marina or the historic center after 8:00 PM. We recommend using the designated parking lot (cemetery or high-altitude areas) and walking down to enjoy the view, or using the shuttle bus services.

4. The "Midnight Granita"

In Castellammare there is a ritual that tourists often discover only on the last day.

  • Tip: Granita in Sicily isn't just for breakfast. After a fish dinner, the local ritual is lemon or mulberry granita, enjoyed while strolling towards the Arab-Norman Castle .
